Musculoskeletal Core Capabilities Frameowork

Health Education England (HEE) and NHS England have commissioned Skills for Health to development of a Musculoskeletal (MSK) Core Capabilities Framework. Development of the framework builds upon work previously undertaken by the national MSK Workforce Group and includes a Delphi consensus study undertaken by the University of Leeds. The project management group includes stakeholder organisations such as ARMA, HEE, PHE and NHS England.

The MSK framework will set out the core capabilities for healthcare workers to deliver high quality, consistent and person-centred care for patients presenting to a first point of contact with musculoskeletal conditions. The framework will provide a standard structure and language in a multi-professional framework and enable greater consistency and portability in MSK core capabilities.

An online survey to consult on the draft framework was completed from mid-October to mid-November 2017. The results of the consultation are now being analysed and further amendments made to the framework.
