UNISON

UNISON is one of the UK’s largest trade unions, serving more than 1.3 million members. We represent full-time and part-time staff who provide public services, although they may be employed in both the public and private sectors. We have a number of service groups including Health, Local government and Education to name a few.

UNISON is the UK’s largest healthcare trade union and our members are: nurses, student nurses, midwives, health visitors, healthcare assistants, paramedics, cleaners, porters, catering staff, medical secretaries, clerical and admin staff and scientific and technical staff. Our One Team campaign aims to promote the message that everyone who works in the NHS is valued, no matter what role they fill. The campaign raises the profile of vital members often overlooked, and we are proud to be sponsoring the Our Health Heroes awards this year, recognising the amazing work support staff do every day.

NHS Improvement

NHS Improvement is responsible for overseeing foundation trusts, NHS trusts and independent providers. We offer the support these providers need to give patients consistently safe, high quality, compassionate care within local health systems that are financially sustainable. By holding providers to account and, where necessary, intervening, we help the NHS to meet its short-term challenges and secure its future.

NHS Improvement is the operational name for the organisation that brings together Monitor, NHS Trust Development Authority, Patient Safety, the National Reporting and Learning System, the Advancing Change team and the Intensive Support Teams.

NHS England strongly believes in health and high quality care for all, now and for future generations. It shares out more than £100 billion in funds and holds organisations to account for spending this money effectively for patients and efficiently for the tax payer.
